Unibet Poker just announced that it will be unveiling the second version of its software to the press during the Unibet Open Copenhagen on August 27.  The software should be rolled out to all Unibet Poker players by the end of the year.

In February 2014, Unibet migrated away from the Microgaming Network to become a standalone site powered by in-house software developed by Relax Gaming.

The software was designed with recreational players in mind, with many features one might see in social games such as cartoon-like themes and many missions and achievements.

In a bold move, Unibet also prohibited the use of just about any third-party software you can think of including HUDs, poker tracking databases, and seating scripts.

While we haven't yet had a sneak peek at the software, it is believed that these features will stay. What we do know is that the second version of the software is also developed by Relax Gaming and could include big changes in its graphical and UX design, a new bonus shop, expanded Challenges for players to strive for, and many other features.

While it is doubtful any of this will change Unibet Poker's position regarding third-party software, it is expected that the player experience - especially for recreational players - should improve and thus help grow the network.

Unibet is excited about giving members of the media the first look of its software in two weeks and launching it later this year. Unibet Head of Poker Andrew West shared in a press release, "We're looking forward to showing the world what we've been working on, but more importantly, we're looking forward to improving our client for our players. After the success of our first client, the new release will change the industry once again."

The success West is referring to is the fact that Unibet has grown during each of the three years since creating its own standalone network. Additionally, the site recently reported a huge growth of 37 percent, while at the same time the rest of the industry declined by 20 percent.

Additionally, a few months ago in April, Unibet Poker transformed itself from a standalone online poker room to a mini online poker network after the Finnish poker online site Pokerihuone left the Microgaming Network to share liquidity with Unibet.

Since then, Unibet has continued to climb up the ranks on the PokerScout Online Traffic Report to become the 11th biggest online poker network after recently pulling ahead of PokerStars France.
